Taj Mohiuddin, an independent candidate from the Uri constituency, shared his insights regarding the Congress party’s seat selections, expressing concern that their choice of constituencies lacked strong candidates, making victory challenging. He remarked, “The National Conference (NC) will never be sincere,” emphasising that such internal conflicts should have been avoided for the sake of unity. Reflecting on the ongoing political alliances, he expressed uncertainty about their future impact. Addressing the allegations of being a proxy candidate for the BJP, he firmly rejected these claims, attributing them to vote-related tactics by opponents. He lamented the incomplete development projects he had initiated, which were stalled after his tenure. In particular, he highlighted the poor condition of roads, which have remained neglected for a decade, and noted that several developmental schemes have been left unattended. With a vision for the future, he assured voters that if elected, he would focus on employment and land reforms. He emphasised the need to pass two key acts in the assembly: one addressing unemployment, tied to the state subject, and another regulating land ownership. He promised to fill the 1.95 lakh job vacancies and acknowledged the work done by the National Highway Authority under Nitin Gadkari, which is visible in the improvements to infrastructure. Also commented on the ongoing Smart City projects, noting the traffic congestion that has emerged as a result, while recognising the effort to modernise. For the Uri region, he urged voters to “vote hard” and give him another chance, with the assurance that it would positively impact specific areas. He hinted at future alliances, stating that after winning, he would decide which group to align with. He also highlighted the presence of eight key individuals, including former MLAs and ministers, whose influence would weigh on future decisions. He expressed optimism that, the work would get done, and his blueprint for employment would bring meaningful change.
