J&K Dy.CM for fast implementation of development schemes

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 13: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary emphasised the urgent need to fast-track the implementation of infrastructure development schemes in Jammu to enhance basic amenities and position the city as one of the most developed regions in the country. Addressing a review meeting for Jammu district, the Deputy CM urged officers to ensure that people benefit from the various initiatives aimed at upgrading the city’s infrastructure and urban facilities.

During his address, Surinder Choudhary directed the officers to involve elected representatives in every stage of the schemes’ implementation, from planning to monitoring, ensuring that grassroots-level concerns are addressed. He stressed that officers must be quick to respond to the issues raised by elected representatives, as this is fundamental to maintaining the sanctity of democratic processes.

The Deputy CM also encouraged close coordination between public representatives and executing agencies, which would not only accelerate implementation but also ensure that development efforts reflect local needs and demands. He further underscored the need to remove any bottlenecks in the process to ensure timely completion of initiatives.

In his remarks, Surinder Choudhary highlighted Jammu’s historical significance and called for collective efforts to make the region one of the most preferred and developed destinations in the country. He urged everyone involved in the developmental process to work toward creating a Jammu that offers modern amenities while preserving its unique cultural and historical heritage.

The meeting also provided an overview of ongoing projects and the progress made under various schemes. Jammu district, with a CAPEX allocation of Rs 127.76 crore, has made substantial progress, with 3891 works undertaken—2261 of which have been completed. The district’s achievements were also highlighted under several national and state-level schemes, including MGNREGA, PMAY-G, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Deputy CM expressed his satisfaction with the achievements thus far but stressed that more needs to be done, especially in sectors like water supply, sanitation, and road infrastructure, to ensure the holistic development of Jammu.

Addressing the concerns raised by local representatives, Surinder Choudhary assured that the necessary augmentations to ongoing projects would be taken up, and new projects across various sectors, including PHE, R&B, PDD, and Health, would be prioritised for the betterment of the people.

With an emphasis on collaborative governance and transparent execution, the meeting set the stage for a more coordinated and efficient approach to the development of Jammu, ensuring that the city progresses in line with the vision for a modern and prosperous future.
