Jammu, July 14,2026- Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Monday reviewed the initial framework for a Comprehensive Cancer Care Strategy for Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at strengthening the Union Territory’s healthcare system through a holistic and patient-centric approach to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term care.
During the review meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasised the need for an integrated strategy covering every stage of cancer care—from prevention and early detection to timely diagnosis, advanced treatment, palliative care, research, and digital health interventions.
CS Atal Dulloo underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure accessible, affordable, and quality cancer care for patients across Jammu & Kashmir. He called for a patient-centric healthcare model that prioritises early screening, improved clinical outcomes, and seamless delivery of medical services.
The proposed strategy also envisages leveraging digital health technologies to enhance patient management, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and improve coordination among healthcare institutions. The framework aims to promote research, expand access to specialised oncology services, and create a robust ecosystem for comprehensive cancer care in the Union Territory.
The Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments and health authorities to prepare a detailed roadmap and ensure the time-bound implementation of the proposed interventions, stressing that early execution will play a crucial role in reducing the burden of cancer and improving survival outcomes.
The initiative marks a significant step towards building a modern, inclusive, and sustainable cancer care system in Jammu & Kashmir, aligned with national healthcare priorities and focused on improving the quality of life for cancer patients.
