Div Com Kashmir reviews medical care for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris at SKIMS Soura

Srinagar, July 13,2026- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Monday visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, to review the medical care and treatment being provided to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris admitted to the hospital with various health issues.

During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner interacted with the pilgrims undergoing treatment and enquired about their health, well-being, and the quality of healthcare being extended to them. He assured the yatris of the Jammu and Kashmir Administration’s full support and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the best possible medical care and assistance throughout their stay.

Reviewing the healthcare arrangements, Garg directed the hospital administration and senior doctors to closely monitor treatment protocols and ensure the availability of all essential medical facilities. He stressed the need for prompt, comprehensive, and high-quality medical care for every admitted pilgrim.

Director SKIMS, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, informed the Divisional Commissioner that the institute has earmarked a dedicated ward exclusively for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris, staffed with specialized doctors, nursing personnel, and support staff to provide focused medical care.

He further stated that 44 yatris have been admitted to SKIMS for treatment since the commencement of the Yatra, of whom 28 have been discharged after successful recovery, while the remaining patients continue to receive necessary medical attention.

The visit was attended by the Medical Superintendent of SKIMS, the Assistant Commissioner Central, and other senior medical officials, who briefed the Divisional Commissioner on the hospital’s preparedness and ongoing healthcare arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.

The review underscores the administration’s continued focus on ensuring robust healthcare services for devotees undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, with dedicated medical infrastructure and round-the-clock support available across the pilgrimage routes.
