Jammu, June 25, 2025 – In a significant step toward ensuring a seamless Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, a delegation from the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Welfare Society, led by President Shri Kiran Wattal, met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on June 24, 2025. The delegation, which included Shri Anil Gupta, Senior Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu, discussed critical arrangements for the upcoming pilgrimage, scheduled from July 3 to August 9, 2025. The meeting focused on enhancing pilgrim facilities and ensuring a smooth and safe spiritual journey to the sacred Amarnath Cave, home to the naturally formed ice Shivling of Lord Shiva.
During the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Sinha, who also serves as Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), unveiled the second edition of a specially designed LED glow Lord Mahadev Shivling Pratima. This unique installation features MP3 audio with pre-recorded ancient Katha of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, along with Bhakti bhajans and Leelas, aimed at enriching the spiritual experience of devotees. The unveiling underscores the administration’s commitment to blending tradition with modern technology for the Yatra.
Following this, representatives of the Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Phagetra Biradari, led by Shri Rajesh Gupta, also met with the Lieutenant Governor to discuss community support and logistical preparations for the pilgrimage. These engagements highlight the collaborative efforts between the administration, local organizations, and community groups to ensure the Yatra’s success.

Preparations and Security for Amarnath Yatra 2025
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a 38-day pilgrimage to the holy cave at 3,880 meters in the Kashmir Himalayas, is set to commence on July 3, 2025, via the Pahalgam route (Anantnag district) and Baltal route (Ganderbal district), concluding on August 9, 2025, on Raksha Bandhan. Over 3.31 lakh devotees have already registered, reflecting the Yatra’s immense spiritual significance. Lieutenant Governor Sinha, who recently performed the Pratham Puja on June 11, 2025, at the holy cave, urged devotees to participate in large numbers, assuring them of robust security and enhanced facilities.
Following the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, the administration has implemented stringent security measures. Over 45,000 personnel from the J&K Police, Army, CRPF, and other forces are deployed, supported by AI-based facial recognition and drone surveillance. Both routes have been declared a no-fly zone from July 1 to August 10, 2025, suspending helicopter services to prioritize safety. Infrastructure upgrades, including widened tracks, safety handrails, and ILCB tiles, have been prioritized, with Sinha personally inspecting the Baltal route to ensure a hassle-free trek.
Community and Spiritual Significance
The meetings with the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Welfare Society and Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Phagetra Biradari emphasize the community’s role in supporting pilgrims. The LED Shivling Pratima, with its audio features, is a novel initiative to deepen devotees’ connection to Lord Shiva’s legacy. The Yatra, revered for its spiritual merit equivalent to visiting 23 sacred Hindu sites, draws lakhs annually to witness the ice Shivling, believed to embody Lord Shiva’s divine presence.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha reiterated his commitment to a “peaceful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling” pilgrimage, urging devotees to pray for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation. With enhanced facilities at base camps like Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas and transit points like Pantha Chowk, the administration is geared to support pilgrims throughout their journey.
