With support from the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, Kumar has established a thriving chemical-free jaggery making unit, contributing to both local livelihoods and eco-friendly food production.
The PMFME scheme, launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in 2020, aims to empower micro-entrepreneurs in the food processing sector. For Kumar, this initiative has been a game-changer. By utilising the scheme’s resources, he has set up a unit that produces chemical-free gud (jaggery), a healthier alternative to refined sugar, while preserving traditional methods.
