Earning ₹1500 & Gaining Independence: J&K Young Women in Narastan Tral Empowered by Pashmina Work We are working here since four years in the Pashmina Centre loacted in Narastan, Tral, Jammu & Kashmir. We get a monthly stipend of Rs 1500, informed a young female worker. Other young women at the centre said they get depressed at home and like working here. There are 19 girls here. First we get the Pashmina then by hand we sort it and then the machine is utilised to make Pashmina threads. The girls said they arrive for work at 10: 30 am and go home by 4 pm. We like to work here and think it is like exercise. In earlier times there were no machines, now at least we have machines. It is going to benefit us a lot, said the young female workers. There are many schemes related to it. One must participate in those schemes. I tell everyone not to sit idle at home. One must keep learning and doing something. I want this centre to be in every village so that each woman can do something and benefit from it. We are grateful to the Government for giving us this scheme. Those who do not know about it should find out soon, said a young woman working in Pashmina Centre in Narastan Tral, Jammu & Kashmir.
