Srinagar, June 23,2026-Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, handed over a Mobile Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Van to the District Tuberculosis Centre under the IDBI Bank CSR Initiative, marking a significant step towards strengthening tuberculosis detection, prevention, and treatment services in the district.
The specially equipped Ni-Kshay Vahaan is expected to enhance mobile screening, active case-finding, and access to TB detection services across Srinagar under the TB Mukt Abhiyaan. The initiative aims to reach vulnerable and underserved populations, ensuring early diagnosis and timely treatment of tuberculosis.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of proactive healthcare interventions in achieving the goal of a TB-free India. He noted that the mobile screening van will help healthcare teams reach communities at their doorstep, particularly in areas where access to diagnostic facilities may be limited.
The Ni-Kshay Vahaan is equipped to conduct screening and awareness activities, enabling health officials to identify suspected TB cases, facilitate testing, and connect patients with appropriate treatment and support services. The initiative is expected to improve early detection rates and strengthen efforts to eliminate tuberculosis from the district.
Health officials stated that mobile screening and active case-finding are critical components of the government’s tuberculosis elimination strategy. By taking healthcare services directly to communities, the programme seeks to reduce delays in diagnosis and ensure better health outcomes for patients.
The initiative reflects the collaborative efforts of the district administration, health department, and corporate sector under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure and advance the objectives of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).
