LG Manoj Sinha Felicitates Pashmina Artisans at Pashmina Artisan Awards 2026

Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha felicitated artisans at the Pashmina Artisan Awards 2026, organised by the PEMA Foundation, and praised their contribution to preserving Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage. Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the true prosperity of a society is reflected in the creativity and craftsmanship of its skilled artisans. He described Pashmina as a precious cultural legacy that represents generations of patience, talent and artistic excellence. Highlighting the traditions of Kani weaving and Sozni embroidery, Sinha said every Pashmina creation carries a unique story of dedication and craftsmanship. He particularly acknowledged the contribution of women artisans whose skill and perseverance have helped preserve these traditional crafts. The Lieutenant Governor also congratulated the young artisans honoured at the ceremony, describing them as a bridge between the region’s centuries-old heritage and contemporary design. He said their efforts can help ensure that traditional crafts remain vibrant, relevant and globally recognised in the 21st century. Sinha emphasised the importance of providing artisans with dignity, fair remuneration and opportunities for wider recognition. He also called for continued efforts to encourage the younger generation to take up traditional crafts. He congratulated all award winners and appreciated the PEMA Foundation for honouring the artisans who continue to carry Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural identity to the world.
