Srinagar, June 11,2026- After a gap of 36 years, members of the Kashmiri Pandit community have returned to their ancestral homeland under the #PragaashHeritageTour, marking an emotional and symbolic reconnection with their roots, culture, and heritage in the Kashmir Valley.
The visit, described as both historic and deeply emotional, brought members of the community back to their native places, where they revisited old neighbourhoods, temples, and cultural landmarks associated with their past. The return has been widely seen as a significant step towards strengthening people-to-people ties and reviving shared cultural bonds in the region.
Participants of the heritage tour expressed sentiments of peace, coexistence, and brotherhood, emphasizing their desire for harmony and mutual understanding. Many said the experience reaffirmed their emotional connection with Kashmir and highlighted the enduring spirit of Kashmiriyat, the centuries-old ethos of communal harmony and cultural unity in the Valley.
Organisers of the Pragaash Heritage Tour stated that the initiative aims to reconnect displaced Kashmiri Pandits with their heritage sites, ancestral homes, and cultural traditions, while also fostering dialogue and reconciliation. The tour included visits to historically significant places and interactions with local communities.
Locals in various parts of the Valley welcomed the visiting members warmly, reflecting growing efforts on both sides to rebuild trust and strengthen social bonds.
