Srinagar gears up for vibrant Baisakhi festival at Zabarwan park on april 13, 2025

Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, April 12, 2025 – The Department of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir, is set to host a grand Baisakhi festival at Zabarwan Park, Boulevard Road, Srinagar, on April 13, 2025, starting at 5 PM. This colorful and vibrant celebration promises to bring together locals and tourists in a joyous display of cultural heritage, traditional performances, and culinary delights, marking the spring harvest festival and the Sikh New Year.

Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi, holds immense cultural and religious significance, celebrating the harvest season and commemorating the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. The event at Zabarwan Park, nestled along the scenic Dal Lake and at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, aims to showcase the rich diversity of Jammu and Kashmir while boosting tourism in the region.

The festival will kick off with energetic throwback bhangra and cultural dance performances, reflecting the lively spirit of Punjab and Kashmir. Attendees will be treated to live musical performances by renowned artists, including Shafi Sopori, Qazi Touqeer, and Owais Pandit, whose soulful renditions are expected to captivate the audience. The event will also feature a confluence of cultural displays, highlighting traditional Kashmiri and Punjabi art forms.

Additional District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Rifat Aftab Qureshi, recently reviewed arrangements to ensure a seamless experience, emphasising provisions for safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, first-aid, and ample parking facilities. Special attention has been given to maintaining cleanliness and lighting around key religious sites like Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi and other prominent gurdwaras in Srinagar.

The Department of Tourism invites everyone to join this exuberant celebration at Zabarwan Park, where the serene backdrop of Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Range will enhance the festive spirit. The event underscores Srinagar’s growing prominence as a cultural and tourism hub, offering a perfect blend of tradition, entertainment, and natural beauty.
