‘Mumkin’ scheme offers hope to unemployed J&K youth to earn a livelihood

A customised livelihood generation scheme ‘Mumkin’ for the unemployed youth of Jammu & Kashmir was launched by the LG, Shri Manoj Sinha. The government sponsors a vehicle to the youth in J&K, in this mission to uplift the youth. Mudasir Imtiyaz had always dreamt of owning a vehicle. He wanted to secure a decent livelihood that takes care of the needs of his family and open the doors for a better future. The ‘Mumkin’ scheme has provided him with all the benefits. He is satisfied being the happy owner of a vehicle which is enabling him to feed his family and educate his brother and sisters. He is thankful to the administration for bringing out this scheme for the jobless youth of J&K.

Under the ‘Mumkin’ livelihood programme, youth in the bracket of 18 to 35 are provided with small commercial vehicles with the banking partner extending the loan facility to the extent of 100 per cent for on-road price of the vehicle to be purchased. Mission Youth J&K provides an amount of Rs 80,000 or 10 per cent for on-road price of the vehicle (whichever is lesser) as upfront subsidy. The vehicle manufacturers (scheme partner of government) provide an upfront special discount, not less than the amount of subsidy.

Mudasir urges the youth in J&K to avail the benefits of this scheme and become independent earners of livelihood. This livelihood generation programme is a special initiative of the J&K government. The youth can approach the District Employment and Counseling Centre, Srinagar for self-employment assistance. The ‘Mumkin’ scheme also operates digitally.
