Light rain brings serenity to Dal Lake as cloudy weather persists in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 13, 2026 – A spell of light rain over the iconic Dal Lake transformed the landscape into a picture of tranquility on Friday, offering residents and visitors a refreshing respite from the recent warm weather conditions in Kashmir.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cloudy weather conditions accompanied by the possibility of rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in Srinagar until tomorrow. The forecast suggests partly to generally cloudy skies with intermittent spells of light rainfall and thundershowers in the city and surrounding areas.

The changing weather has brought relief from above-normal temperatures witnessed in recent days across the Kashmir Valley. Meteorological officials have advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, as isolated areas may experience brief intense showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

Tourists visiting Dal Lake welcomed the pleasant weather, describing the rain-soaked scenery as a unique and memorable experience. Many visitors were seen enjoying shikara rides despite the drizzle, while others captured the breathtaking views of the lake surrounded by the Zabarwan Hills under cloudy skies.

The weather department has also indicated the possibility of scattered rainfall and thunderstorms across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with authorities monitoring conditions closely.
