SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 7: The two-day Capacity Building Programme on Labour Reforms, organized by the Labour Department of Jammu and Kashmir, successfully concluded today at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir. The programme aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of Labour Laws, with a particular emphasis on familiarizing officers and officials with the recently introduced Labour Codes.
During the concluding session, Labour Commissioner S. Charandeep Singh expressed his gratitude to the participants and resource persons for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout the event. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in ensuring that Labour Department officials are well-equipped to efficiently enforce, monitor, and implement labour laws and reforms, thus making the system more responsive and worker-friendly. He further stressed the importance of continuous capacity-building to improve the delivery of services to workers across Jammu and Kashmir.
The event featured renowned experts in the field of labour reforms, including Dr. Onkar Sharma, former Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) and Advisor to the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute. Dr. Sharma led sessions on key Labour Codes, such as the Code on Wages, the Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions Code, and the Social Security Code. Additionally, Dr. Sanjay Upadhyaya, Senior Fellow at the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, presented insightful sessions on ‘Human Rights and Constitutional Perspectives on Labour’ and the ‘Industrial Relations Code.’
The interactive sessions provided participants with valuable insights into the nuances of existing Labour Laws and the new reforms. These discussions not only enhanced understanding of their implications but also emphasized best practices to ensure the successful implementation of Labour reforms in Jammu and Kashmir.
At the conclusion of the programme, certificates of successful participation were distributed to all attendees. Labour Commissioner S. Charandeep Singh presented the certificates as a recognition of the participants’ active involvement and commitment to expanding their knowledge and skills in the field of Labour Reforms.
