Jammu and Kashmir: Pleasant weather returns to Srinagar as rain showers lash Kashmir valley

Kashmir,May 21,2026-Srinagar and several parts of the Kashmir Valley witnessed pleasant weather conditions on Thursday after fresh spells of rain brought relief from the recent heatwave across the region. The rainfall led to a noticeable dip in temperatures, while cloudy skies and cool winds created a refreshing atmosphere in the Valley.

Intermittent rain showers were reported from various districts including Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara and Pulwama, bringing much-needed respite to residents. The iconic Dal Lake and Mughal gardens in Srinagar wore a picturesque look as light rain and mist covered the city.

The change in weather also boosted tourist activity, with visitors enjoying the cool climate and scenic beauty of the Valley. Locals welcomed the rainfall, saying the sudden drop in temperature has made the weather comfortable after days of rising heat.

According to officials from the India Meteorological Department, more light to moderate rain is expected in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. The department has advised people, especially those travelling through hilly areas, to remain cautious due to the possibility of slippery roads and reduced visibility in some regions.

The fresh spell of rain has once again highlighted Kashmir’s natural charm, with social media flooded with visuals of rain-soaked landscapes, green fields and cloudy mountain views from across the Valley.
