I had got the issue of stones appearing in my kidney. I was being given medicines but still stones kept appearing. Then the stone came out of the kidney but got stuck below. Then I went to IBN SINA Hospital in Jammu & Kashmir. There the doctor advised emergency surgery. Then they asked me if I had the Golden Card. Since I possessed the Golden Card, my surgery was performed free. Today with the grace of Allah, I am ok, said the Budgam man. Five years ago, it was a different scene altogether. If someone fell ill, or had cancer then they faced great trouble in collecting money for the surgery. People used to die as they did not have money. Now with the Golden Card scheme, it is a huge relief for poor people. They can go out of the state or anywhere in India to get their treatment at registered PMJAY hospitals free of cost with the Golden Card. This is a big hope for the poor people. Under SEHAT Yojana, a financial medical cover of Rs 5 lac is granted annually. I had taken my daughter to District Budgam hospital. She had an ear infection. We got all the tests and X-ray done free of cost with the Golden Card. Then she got medicines and a surgery was done for which we did not have to pay anything. Earlier we had to pay in hospitals. First of all, we never have that kind of money so how can we pay for treatments? We are grateful to the PM Narendra Modi for bringing such a beneficial scheme. We the poor people in Budgam village of Jammu & Kashmir are deriving benefits from the scheme and can get any kind of treatment done without worrying sick for money. Poor people do not have money like the rich, nor do they have approach to get treated by big doctors. People used to die on the streets. The Golden Card scheme started by PM Modi is a big scheme designed to benefit a large mass of poor people, said Budgam residents.
