District-level workshop on good governance held in Pulwama

In a significant step toward promoting citizen-centric governance, a district-level workshop on “Good Governance Practices, Initiatives, Service Delivery, and Grievance Redressal Mechanism – Sevottam” was organised at the Conference Hall in Pulwama. The workshop was part of the Good Governance Week celebrations (December 19-24, 2024) and was conducted in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Institute of Management, Public Administration, and Rural Development (J&K IMPARD). The initiative was sponsored by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India. The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pulwama, Sheikh Mohammad Ashraf, who served as the chief guest. In his address, the ADC emphasised the critical role of good governance in ensuring effective administration and public satisfaction. Highlighting initiatives like Sevottam, he stressed their importance in improving service delivery and creating robust grievance redressal mechanisms that uphold transparency and accountability. The workshop provided a platform for government officials, public representatives, and stakeholders to come together and discuss innovative governance practices. Resource persons from J&K IMPARD delivered thought-provoking presentations on key topics, including governance reforms, citizen-centric services, and efficient grievance management systems. These sessions offered valuable insights into strategies for enhancing administrative efficiency and responding to the needs of the public effectively. Interactive sessions allowed participants to deliberate on ways to strengthen governance through technology, transparency, and accountability. The discussions centred around adopting innovative solutions to address the evolving expectations of citizens and ensuring that public service delivery is efficient, timely, and inclusive. Success stories and best practices from other regions were shared, inspiring participants to implement similar initiatives in Pulwama. The workshop also underscored the importance of grievance redressal as a fundamental aspect of governance. Participants explored how technology-driven systems can streamline grievance resolution, improve citizen satisfaction, and build trust between the administration and the public. As the event concluded, a vote of thanks was extended, reiterating the district administration’s commitment to promoting excellence in governance. The workshop served as a testament to Pulwama’s dedication to fostering a governance model that prioritises citizen welfare and responsive administration. This initiative reflects the broader vision of Good Governance Week, which aims to ensure that governance practices across the country are inclusive, transparent, and aligned with the needs of the people. Pulwama’s workshop stands out as an example of proactive efforts to achieve these goals and inspire other districts to follow suit. By embracing citizen-centric governance, Pulwama is paving the way for a more efficient, accountable, and people-oriented administrative framework.
