Defence Minister Rajnath Singh interacts with soldiers at Zojila Pass En route to Dras for Kargil Vijay Diwas

Kashmir, July 26,2026- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh , accompanied by Vice Chief of the Army Staff Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, interacted with Indian Army personnel at the strategically significant Zojila Pass while travelling to Dras to participate in the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations.

During the visit, Rajnath Singh met troops deployed in the challenging high-altitude terrain, praised their dedication and professionalism, and acknowledged their unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s borders under extreme weather and operational conditions. He also posed for photographs with the soldiers, boosting the morale of personnel stationed at one of the country’s most critical mountain passes.

The Defence Minister’s stop at Zojila underscored the strategic importance of the Srinagar–Leh corridor, which serves as a vital lifeline connecting Ladakh with the rest of the country. The interaction came ahead of the Kargil Vijay Diwas ceremony at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, where Rajnath Singh is scheduled to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

Addressing the troops, Rajnath Singh reiterated that the Indian Armed Forces remain fully prepared to counter every challenge posed by adversaries, including attempts through infiltration and proxy warfare. He lauded the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of the armed forces, stating that their service continues to inspire the nation.
