J&K LG Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated “UMEED market place” under AVSAR scheme at Srinagar airport. The scheme promotes rural livelihoods and encourages women to form Self Help Groups (SHGs). The market place was replete with handmade products coasters, bags and accessories all created by Kashmiri women. The girls were given training and they created innovative designs and some products were made through screen printing. This scheme supports local art and artisans of Self Help Groups. A similar marketplace was inaugurated by the LG at Jammu Airport. Both the outlets will exhibit products from the 20 districts of Jammu &Kashmir.

In Jammu &Kashmir more than 10,000 students took part in a mega ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally at Sports stadium in Pulwama. The Mega Tiranga Rally is also being organised to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, India’s 75th year of Independence.
