Jammu, July 25,2026- The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for six days due to adverse weather conditions and safety concerns along the pilgrimage routes. With improved weather and route clearance, a fresh batch of more than 6,000 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu under tight security arrangements.
The pilgrims departed in a convoy of escorted vehicles during the early hours of the morning and are headed towards the twin base camps of Nunwan (Pahalgam route) and Baltal (Ganderbal route) before proceeding to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva.
Authorities resumed the pilgrimage after reviewing weather conditions, road accessibility, and safety measures along both routes. Security agencies, disaster response teams, medical staff, and civil administration have been deployed at key locations to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims.
The temporary suspension was imposed following continuous rainfall and the risk of landslides and flash floods in several parts of Jammu & Kashmir. During the halt, officials carried out restoration work on damaged stretches, cleared debris, and inspected the trekking routes before granting permission for the pilgrimage to resume.
Pilgrims expressed relief and happiness as the yatra recommenced, thanking the administration for prioritising their safety while ensuring adequate facilities at transit camps and base camps.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, one of India’s most revered Hindu pilgrimages, continues under a multi-layered security cover with real-time weather monitoring, RFID tracking, medical assistance, and emergency response teams stationed along the route.
