BRO opens first permanent Teel Jambhir Bridge in Rajouri, boosting all-weather connectivity to border areas

Rajouri, July 6,2026- In a major infrastructure milestone for Jammu and Kashmir’s border region, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Project Sampark has opened the first-ever permanent 60-metre steel Jambhir Bridge for traffic over the Jambhir Nallah on the Nadpur NH-144 Link–Qila Dharhal–Lam Road in Rajouri district.

The newly inaugurated bridge marks the first permanent crossing at the location since Independence, replacing temporary arrangements and significantly improving connectivity to strategically important border villages in the Nowshera Sub-Division.

Designed to provide reliable, all-weather access, the steel bridge will ensure uninterrupted movement of civilians, essential supplies, and security forces, particularly during the monsoon season when water levels in the Jambhir Nallah often disrupt transportation.

Officials said the bridge is expected to enhance regional connectivity, facilitate socio-economic development, and strengthen infrastructure in remote border areas. The project also underscores BRO’s continued commitment to improving road networks and strategic connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.

The opening of the Jambhir Bridge is expected to benefit thousands of residents by reducing travel disruptions while supporting faster emergency response and improved access to healthcare, education, and markets.

The bridge forms part of BRO’s broader efforts to modernise road infrastructure in border districts, contributing to both national security and regional development.
