Multi-Agency mock drill conducted at Jammu Yatra base camp

Jammu, June 23,2026- In a major preparedness exercise ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, a comprehensive multi-agency mock drill was conducted at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Base Camp in Jammu to assess emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.

The drill witnessed the participation of multiple agencies, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department, Civil Defence, Traffic Police, and district administration officials.

The exercise simulated various emergency scenarios, including medical emergencies, fire incidents, crowd management situations, evacuation procedures, and disaster response operations. Teams demonstrated coordinated action to assess their readiness in handling unforeseen incidents during the pilgrimage.

Officials said the mock drill was aimed at strengthening inter-agency coordination, testing communication networks, and ensuring swift response mechanisms at the base camp before the commencement of the yatra. Rescue teams carried out evacuation drills, while medical personnel demonstrated emergency treatment and patient transportation procedures.

Senior officers overseeing the exercise emphasized that the safety and well-being of pilgrims remain the top priority. They noted that lessons learned from the mock drill would be used to further enhance preparedness measures and address any gaps in emergency response systems.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, one of the country’s most significant religious pilgrimages, attracts thousands of devotees from across India every year. Authorities have intensified security arrangements and logistical preparations to facilitate a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience.

The successful conduct of the mock drill reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring seamless coordination among all stakeholders and maintaining high standards of safety throughout the Amarnath Yatra 2026.
