Kathua students champion road safety through art at GDC Kathua

Kathua, February 27, 2026 — Students at Government Degree College Kathua showcased their creativity and civic responsibility in a road safety awareness painting competition, transforming the campus into a colorful canvas of safety messages. The event aimed to encourage youth to become role models and ambassadors for safer roads in the district.

The competition was attended by RTO Surendra Kumar and ARTO Shammi Kumar as special guests. Addressing the participants, RTO Surendra Kumar emphasized the importance of responsible citizenship, stating, “Every citizen should be aware and responsible about road safety.”

The event provided students with a unique platform to blend art with public awareness, highlighting critical themes such as safe driving, pedestrian safety, and traffic rules. Through their paintings, participants creatively communicated the message of road safety to the broader community.

The initiative reinforces the role of youth in promoting social responsibility, while also fostering creativity, teamwork, and civic engagement among students in District Kathua.
