Sonamarg, December 23,2025:Fresh snowfall in Sonamarg, one of Kashmir’s most popular tourist destinations, has brought joy and excitement among tourists, transforming the picturesque meadow into a winter wonderland. Visitors from different parts of the country were seen enjoying the snow-covered landscapes, capturing moments and indulging in winter activities amid the scenic beauty.
The snowfall has enhanced Sonamarg’s charm, with snow-laden pine trees, frozen streams, and white meadows offering a breathtaking view. Tourists were seen taking part in snowball fights, photography, and leisurely walks, while many expressed delight at experiencing fresh snowfall during their visit.
Local tourism stakeholders said the snowfall has given a boost to winter tourism, attracting both domestic and adventure-loving tourists. Pony walas, guides, and small business owners welcomed the development, hoping for increased tourist footfall in the coming days.
Meanwhile, authorities have ensured that essential arrangements, road connectivity, and safety measures are in place. Snow clearance teams have been deployed to keep the Srinagar–Sonamarg road operational, while tourists have been advised to follow official advisories and avoid venturing into unsafe areas.
Weather officials have forecast intermittent snowfall in higher reaches, which is expected to further enhance the winter appeal of the region. Despite the cold conditions, the festive mood among tourists continues, with many calling Sonamarg their “perfect winter getaway.”
Sonamarg, also known as the ‘Meadow of Gold’, remains a major attraction during winters, offering stunning views of the Zojila range and serving as a gateway to Ladakh.
