Documentary: Celebrating the Spirit of Jammu & Kashmir | Foundation Day Tribute 2025 In the past five years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a major transformation, moving toward development, inclusivity, and peace. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasizes that progress and unity should go hand in hand. He stated that the benefits of democracy must reach every region and family, ensuring prosperity and helping Kashmir move beyond the sufferings of past generations. Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha has reiterated the government’s commitment to holistic development, stating, “Jammu and Kashmir is standing at the threshold of a new era, striving to become a preferred destination for scholars, scientists, and innovators.” Efforts are underway to make healthcare accessible to all, symbolizing a fearless, corruption-free, transparent, and responsive government. Since the reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory in 2019, a uniform legal framework has enabled progressive reforms for women, communities, and youth. New residency laws have extended benefits to refugees from Pakistan, Valmikis, Gorkha displaced citizens, sanitation workers, and children of women married outside the region. Jammu and Kashmir is now emerging as a center of agri-economic growth, ranked third nationally. Programs like JKCIP and HADP are making agriculture market-oriented and climate-resilient. The Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), with an allocation of ₹5,013 crore, provides farmers access to modern technology, water management systems, improved seeds, and technical facilities, creating nearly three lakh new employment opportunities. The formation of District Development Councils and strengthening of Panchayati Raj has ushered in a new era of local governance, with panchayat-level elections further boosting public trust. Infrastructure development has been a key focus. Projects like the Qazigund-Banihal Tunnel, Chenab Bridge, and Anji Khad Bridge are enabling safer and faster travel. Jammu and Kashmir is expanding hydropower projects to double electricity generation and targets producing 600 MW of renewable energy by 2030. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, water supply coverage has risen from 31% to 81%, benefiting over 1.5 million households. Irrigation projects like the Shahpur Kandi Dam are supporting agriculture. Tourism is flourishing, with 21.5 million visitors in 2023, including 55,000 international tourists. During the Amarnath Yatra, over 500,000 devotees visited the holy cave — the highest in 12 years. The yatra symbolizes unity and India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage. High voter turnout in Lok Sabha elections reflects a renewed commitment to democracy and stability, marking a shift from violence to active political engagement. These elections herald a new chapter in Jammu and Kashmir’s golden future. The region is also emerging as a filming destination. Bollywood has returned to Kashmir, with new shooting permits boosting local economic opportunities and reviving its cinematic legacy. Healthcare has made major strides with the establishment of new medical colleges, AIIMS, and Unani institutes. Under PM-JAY SEHAT, more than 5.5 million people receive free treatment. Digital initiatives like PSGA and JK IT Vision position Jammu and Kashmir as a leader in India’s digital transformation, promoting transparent governance. JKRIS helps protect forests and supports forest-based industries, generating employment for forest-dependent communities. Over 215,000 homeless families have been provided permanent houses, ensuring safe shelter for all. This journey of transformation is guided by commitments to peace, unity, and prosperity. Infrastructure growth, employment opportunities, and improvements in education and healthcare have connected the region firmly to the national mainstream. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, transparency and good governance have strengthened people’s faith in democracy, fostering a vision of sustainable development and harmony for Jammu and Kashmir.
