Srinagar, October 6,2025: The nomination process for four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu & Kashmir commenced , with the Election Commission of India (ECI) issuing three official notifications detailing the poll schedule.
According to the Election Commission, the last date for filing nominations is October 13, 2025, followed by scrutiny of nominations on October 14. Candidates will have the option to withdraw nominations until October 16, 2025.
If required, polling is scheduled for October 24, 2025, with the counting of votes to take place on the same day. The elections will be conducted in three stages: two separate elections for the first and second Rajya Sabha seats, and a combined election for the remaining two seats.
The process marks an important step in democratic representation for Jammu & Kashmir in the Rajya Sabha, enabling elected members to voice the region’s interests at the national level. Political parties and independent candidates are expected to actively engage in the process, with the ECI ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
