Budgam, 3 September ,2025: In a historic spiritual revival, the Kashmiri Pandit community performed a traditional hawan at the Wasak Nag Pracheen Mandir in Budgam district after a gap of nearly 40 years. The ceremony marked an emotional moment of faith and resilience, as devotees gathered to reconnect with their cultural and religious roots in the Kashmir Valley.
The Wasak Nag Mandir, regarded as one of the revered ancient temples in Kashmir, witnessed the return of Kashmiri Pandits who had been displaced during the 1990s. The community members lit the sacred fire, chanted Vedic mantras, and offered prayers, symbolising peace, harmony, and spiritual continuity.
Local residents and officials welcomed the initiative, highlighting it as a step towards strengthening communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. The district administration of Budgam provided necessary security and logistical support to ensure smooth conduct of the rituals.
Community elders expressed gratitude for being able to perform religious ceremonies at their ancestral shrine after decades. Many termed it a sign of peace returning to Kashmir, as younger generations of Kashmiri Pandits witnessed the rituals for the first time.
The revival of worship at the Wasak Nag Pracheen Mandir in Budgam has been hailed as a symbol of hope, cultural preservation, and the inclusive spirit of Jammu and Kashmir.
