Srinagar I March 18, 2025 – Kashmir is blooming brighter than ever as Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar prepares to open its gates after March 20, showcasing a stunning spectacle of 17 lakh tulips across 74 vibrant varieties. Nestled between the serene Dal Lake and the majestic Zabarwan Hills, this floral extravaganza signals the arrival of spring and underscores the region’s booming tourism sector, a resurgence widely attributed to the abrogation of Article 370. Under the dynamic leadership of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, Jammu and Kashmir is reclaiming its glory as a premier global destination.
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, a jewel in Srinagar’s crown, has become a symbol of Kashmir’s natural beauty and resilience. Spanning 74 acres, the garden’s 1.7 million tulips—imported from top horticultural hubs like Holland and Switzerland—offer visitors a mesmerizing carpet of colors and fragrances. “This year’s display is set to be our grandest yet,” said a senior official from the Floriculture Department. “With enhanced facilities like expanded parking and meticulous upkeep by over 100 gardeners, we’re ready to welcome record crowds.” Last year, the garden drew 4.65 lakh visitors in just 30 days, a testament to its growing allure.
The tourism boom in J&K, which saw 2.35 crore visitors in 2024, reflects a transformative shift following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370. The move, coupled with LG Manoj Sinha’s focus on peace, stability, and development, has revitalized the region’s economy. “Kashmir is no longer just a summer or winter escape—it’s a year-round haven,” from the Tulip Garden’s spring splendour to winter sports in Gulmarg, the Union Territory is shedding its past unrest to embrace a vibrant future.
Under Shri Manoj Sinha’s leadership, initiatives like improved connectivity, digital empowerment, and zero-tolerance for corruption have bolstered J&K’s appeal. The administration’s efforts to promote offbeat destinations—such as Gurez Valley and Bungus Valley—complement iconic spots like Srinagar, easing pressure on traditional hubs while spreading economic benefits to rural communities. The upcoming Srinagar Tulip Festival will further amplify this momentum, featuring Kashmiri music, handicraft stalls, and local cuisine like Rogan Josh and Kahwa, immersing visitors in the region’s rich heritage.
As J&K reclaims its glory, the Tulip Garden stands as a beacon of hope and renewal. With tourism soaring and Kashmir’s natural beauty in full bloom, LG Manoj Sinha’s vision is turning the region into a global showcase of resilience and splendor. Travelers are urged to plan early—spring in Srinagar promises an unforgettable experience.
