Nagrota, March 31, 2025 – Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Pracheen Marg Pavitra Chhari Yatra from the historic Kol Kandoli Temple in Nagrota, Jammu. The ceremonial launch, held at 9 AM, marked the beginning of the annual pilgrimage along the ancient route to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, drawing hundreds of devotees and dignitaries.
In his address during the event, LG Manoj Sinha extended his blessings, stating, “My heartiest greetings to the devotees on this auspicious occasion. I also paid my obeisance at the holy Kol Kandoli Temple, Nagrota, seeking divine blessings for peace and prosperity for all.” His participation highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the yatra, a cherished tradition for pilgrims across the region.
The Pavitra Chhari Yatra, which follows the Pracheen Marg (ancient path), commenced with traditional rituals and prayers at the Kol Kandoli Temple, considered a sacred starting point for the journey. Devotees, adorned in colorful attire, chanted hymns as the procession began, symbolising devotion and unity.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine, perched in the Trikuta Hills, attracts millions of pilgrims annually. The Pracheen Marg, though less traversed than modern routes, holds historical importance and offers a unique spiritual experience for those undertaking the yatra.
Local authorities ensured smooth arrangements for the event, with security and facilities in place to support the pilgrims. The flagged-off yatra is expected to see a steady flow of devotees in the coming days, reinforcing the region’s rich heritage and faith.
