Shiva Temple in Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir: A Symbol of Interfaith Harmony and Rituals for Peace

Especially for the moksha of those young ones who had accidental death or died before reaching a mature age. And deaths of unmarried people, for them shradh puja and havan is held here. This way their souls go free. These households then experience peace. Such people come here for the havan, says V Sathoo. In earlier days, a mela used to be held here. Mubarak Ahmad said pandits have come here. We Muslims, Pandits Sikhs everyone used to go for the Mela. We still have the same love and affection that we had before. We go to Hindu sisters for tying rakhi on Raksha Bandhan. We wish that love lasts for centuries. People participated in the festival of the Kashmiri Hindus, said Raja Wasim. The people of Bharatiya Janata Party participated along with the common people of Shopian district. The brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims still exists which was there 20 years ago. Even today we are ready to serve them. We want Kashmiri Pandits to come back to the plains. The BJP members thanked the Shopian administration and the local people for taking special care of the Hindus.
