Road macadamisation helping Budgam residents, farmers and business owners

A Budgam resident recounted that so much snow had accumulated that a man had fallen from his house and he had to be carried on shoulders to Srinagar. Hilal Ahmad Dar, a local resident of Budgam said, once an elderly person had fallen sick and there was no road or transportation, so we had to carry him on our shoulders. Showkat Ahmad Bhat, another local resident said, people used to say that because of the bad condition of the roads, vehicles used to break down and parts were getting damaged. So the residents appealed to the government for a macadamised road. The road then got constructed in the UT sector. Aabid Manzoor Shah, Junior Engineer, PMGSY said, the road was macadamised till Nowgam at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore. The total length of the road is 69.5km. The travellers were facing a lot of difficulties and their fuel consumption was also riding high. With the macadamised roads, walking on the roads and travelling has become so easy. The constructed roads are helping business people, zamindars and shopkeepers as well. The people in Budgam are happy that the PMGSY team has macadamised the roads with honesty. The whole neighbourhood is happy with the macadamisation of roads. They are grateful to the administration and the reigning government for the macadam of roads. Now, the farmers can take their produce to the mandi hassle-free.
