A new chapter of connectivity is taking shape in Doda with work progressing on the Mandol Bridge over the Chenab under NABARD assistance. The 200-ft-long bridge, linking Mandol in Siraj with Assar on NH-244, is expected to provide all-weather connectivity to nearly 80,000 people across Kashtigarh, Bhagwah, Assar and Rajgarh. Local residents have welcomed the project, saying the bridge will reduce the need to take longer routes and could save around two to three hours of travel time. They expressed hope that the bridge would be completed at the earliest, making daily journeys more convenient and improving access to important destinations. With a sanctioned cost of ₹24.69 crore, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time to the Doda–Batote highway and strengthen access to markets, public services and other opportunities. The improved connection will also help communities currently dependent on longer routes through surrounding areas. Residents appreciated the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and connectivity in the region. Once completed, the bridge is expected to serve as an important transportation link, supporting easier movement of people and strengthening economic and social connections. The Mandol Bridge represents a vital step towards better connectivity, reduced travel time and faster development in the Doda region.
