JKAACL organises ‘Ru-Ba-Ru Meet the Eminent’ on Punjabi writer Harbhajan Singh Sagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 05: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized ‘Ru-Ba-Ru, Meet the Eminent’ programme on Punjabi writer Harbhajan Singh Sagar under the able guidance of Secretary JKAACL.
Sahitya Academy Awardee Khalid Hussain was the Chief Guest on this occasion whereas S. Kanwal Kashmiri presided over the programme.
S. Popinder Singh Paras, Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi, well known intellectuals, writers and family members of Sagar attended the programme.
In his address, Khalid Hussain, shared his experiences in the field of literature, with H.S Sagar. He said that some of the short stories of H.S Sagar like Pension Case, Lalded Diyan Asthiyan, Badshah Kithey Hai?, are having a world class standard level.
In his presidential address, S. Kanwal Kashmiri elaborated on the life work and contribution of S. Harbhajan Singh Sagar.
In his address, Popinder Singh Paras welcomed all the guests, writers and others on the occasion. He said that JKAACL has organized a number of literary events, including Meet the Eminent programmes, during the last year.
S. Ajit Singh Mastana, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn and Joginder Singh Pandhi also expressed their views in the programme.
A collection of articles on literary criticism, titled ‘Harbhajan Singh Sagar Di Sahitik Drishti’, compiled and edited by S. Popinder Singh Paras, was released on the occasion. The articles in the book are based on the life, personality and works of various writers of Jammu & Kashmir.
S. Harbhajan Singh Sagar, a renowned Urdu and Punjabi short story writer of Jammu & Kashmir was blessed with the practice of short story writing as well as literary criticism. He started writing in Urdu and his stories were published in many Urdu magazines like Aaj Kal, Beesvin Sadi, Paaswaan, E Adab, Ruby etc. Afterwards, when he got interactions with other well known Punjabi writers of Kashmir, he started writing short stories in Punjabi. He has presented his short stories in a number of conferences in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and New Delhi.
Three books of short stories, titled ‘Yatri’, ‘Dayira’ and ‘Band Darvaaje Da Birtaant’, written by Harbhajan Singh Sagar have been published so far. He has been awarded with Best Book Award twice by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
