Srinagar, May 6,2026-The anti-drug campaign in Jammu and Kashmir has intensified significantly, with authorities registering 481 FIRs and arresting 518 individuals in just 22 days as part of a massive crackdown on narcotics and related networks.
Officials said the ongoing drive targets drug peddlers, smugglers, and narco-terror networks operating across the Union Territory. In addition to arrests, authorities have also attached or demolished 24 properties linked to illegal drug activities, sending a strong message against those involved in the narcotics trade.
The operation is being carried out under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, which empowers enforcement agencies to take strict action, including seizure of assets derived from drug trafficking.
Police officials stated that the campaign is part of a larger effort to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free, with a focus on dismantling supply chains and preventing youth from falling into addiction. Continuous raids, intelligence-based operations, and community participation have played a key role in the success of the drive.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustaining the momentum and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information about drug-related activities. The administration has also emphasized rehabilitation and awareness initiatives alongside enforcement to tackle the drug menace holistically.
