In J&K LG Manoj Sinha empowers Panchayats to stride the path from conflict to positive construction

On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha announced the launch of three important programmes which are best examples that have resulted from conflict to creativity. For many years, Jammu & Kashmir’s socio-economic condition was in serious trouble. To make the state prosperous, the LG stated that we have begun a journey under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In these years, Kashmir fought many challenges and had to deal with many conflicts and the government is trying to lessen the gap between villages and cities. Speaking to all those present from Panchayati Raj management and Self Help Groups, the LG added, we are carving a path from conflict to positive construction. I speak with great responsibility that Kashmir is ahead of those states in which Panchayati Raj had already been established. We have empowered the Panchayati Raj institution and its representatives in full force. Panchayat Halqa is an open defecation-free village and we have a functional Digital Seva Centre. I feel from the heart that Panchayati Raj institutions should be strengthened. This is the spindle of democracy and even the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi also dreamed of this. Many feel that democracy will happen only when MLAs are elected. I feel that from Panchayat to Parliament, when management is strong only then democracy can happen in the real sense. Many are asking what has changed in J&K. This is the change that in a district like Pulwama, 10,000 youths holding the Tiranga are cheering slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The LG concluded the address by pleading with the audience that let us all work together so that what your ancestors suffered your coming generation should not suffer and be able to light up the name of Jammu & Kashmir in the whole world. Jai Hind!
