Guardianship of Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities approved in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 24: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today presided over a meeting of the District level Committee, focusing on appointing guardians for mentally challenged individuals.
The committee reviewed cases related to legal guardianship for those with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, and multiple disabilities, emphasizing the protection of their interests and properties within District Udhampur.
The committee granted guardianship for three individuals and underscored the importance of awareness programs regarding government schemes for the mentally challenged in the district.
The DC assured full support from the District Administration, emphasizing an empathetic approach and efficient service delivery to individuals with disabilities at their doorsteps.
DSWO Kanika Gupta highlighted the crucial role of guardians in making legal decisions on behalf of mentally challenged persons and managing their property.
Among others, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas, Parveen Sangral representing Muskan Foundation, Dr. Roopika Jandial from the Department of Psychiatry at GMC Udhampur, Parshotam Kumar, a specially-abled person, Choudhary Mohd Shafi Senior Advocate also attended the meeting.
