Forest Resource Management Centre to oversee permits for transporting forest produce

Inaugurating the Forest Resource Management Centre in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha said, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Kaal’ is a period of economic growth’. In this era, science, techniques, natural resources, and economic planning, these four elements have to contribute continuously to the mission of development. In the spirit of inclusive development of all, without considering climate and forest protection, he said that it is not possible. There was a time when the development policies did not include forest and climate change. For the last many years, due to global change all the economic and social development policies include forest conservation and climate change factors. This change is as sad as it is challenging, remarked the LG. Climate change is giving us warning signs every day and requesting us to protect our natural resources. We should make all efforts to save our natural heritage, said the LG. It is a matter of pride that after Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir is the nation’s third in the category of State/ UT which has implemented the National Transit Pass System (NTPS) and the first among the UTs to do so. With the start of the National Transit Pass System, it has arranged to issue online permits and NOC for transportation of forest produce, said the LG.Show less
