Fire safety training initiative in Jammu and Kashmir since august

Srinagar, 14 April, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services Department has made significant strides in training individuals in fire safety measures since August. This extensive initiative highlights the region’s dedication to enhancing public safety and preparedness for fire-related emergencies.

The program, designed to strengthen community resilience, has reached a wide audience, including students, government employees, and residents across urban and rural areas. Sessions emphasize essential skills like fire prevention, safe evacuation techniques, and the use of firefighting equipment such as extinguishers. Collaborations with schools, colleges, and community organizations have ensured widespread participation.

“This is a proactive step toward creating a fire-safe environment,” said a senior official from the Fire and Emergency Services Department. “Equipping citizens with knowledge and skills to handle fire emergencies reduces risks and saves lives.” The initiative has proven especially effective in areas vulnerable to fire hazards due to weather or infrastructure challenges.

Since its launch, the program has been implemented in phases, with training camps held in districts like Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag, and Baramulla. Mobile training units and awareness campaigns have extended outreach to remote regions, promoting inclusivity. The department attributes the program’s success to committed trainers and enthusiastic community engagement.

The milestone has earned recognition for its scale and impact, with plans to further expand the initiative. Authorities intend to introduce advanced fire safety modules and increase training frequency to maintain progress. This effort aligns with broader objectives to enhance disaster preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir.
