Enhanced facilities and tight security planned for Amarnath Yatra 2026: CS Atal Dulloo

Srinagar, June 10,2026- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has said that comprehensive arrangements, enhanced pilgrim facilities, and robust security measures are being put in place to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

Chairing a high-level review meeting to assess preparedness for the annual pilgrimage, Dulloo directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to provide a safe, secure, and comfortable experience for devotees visiting the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.

The Chief Secretary reviewed arrangements related to security, healthcare, transportation, accommodation, sanitation, power supply, drinking water, communication services, and disaster management along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.

Emphasizing pilgrim safety as the top priority, Dulloo said a multi-layered security framework is being implemented in coordination with security agencies to ensure foolproof protection for yatris throughout the pilgrimage period. Surveillance systems, deployment of security personnel, and emergency response mechanisms are being strengthened to maintain a secure environment.

To improve the overall pilgrimage experience, authorities are upgrading infrastructure and public facilities at base camps and transit locations. Adequate arrangements are being made for medical care, including deployment of doctors, paramedical staff, ambulances, and emergency health units at strategic points along the yatra routes.

The Chief Secretary also directed departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential services, including electricity, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and communication connectivity. Special attention is being given to traffic management and transportation services to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims.

Dulloo stressed the importance of preparedness for weather-related challenges and instructed concerned agencies to maintain readiness for any emergency situation. Disaster management teams and rescue personnel will remain on standby throughout the yatra period.

Officials informed the meeting that extensive efforts are underway to enhance facilities for pilgrims while ensuring strict adherence to safety and security protocols. Coordination among civil administration, police, health services, disaster response agencies, and the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board is being strengthened to ensure seamless operations.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is one of the country’s most significant annual pilgrimages, attracting lakhs of devotees from across India. Authorities expect a large turnout this year and are focusing on providing world-class facilities while maintaining the highest standards of security and pilgrim welfare.

Chief Secretary Dulloo reiterated the administration’s commitment to making the pilgrimage safe, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling for all devotees undertaking the sacred journey to the Amarnath Cave Shrine.
