A local, Safina said, today our younger generation is caught in the habit of substance abuse like drugs.To tackle this menace, the SSP of Budgam, Shri Tahir had kept this programme. Awareness has been given to the public and how they need to carry out the role of an informer whenever a drug related case occurs. It is only then the police can do the proceedings. The SSP Budgam has laid importance on zero tolerance of drugs in Budgam. A quick action is taken by the SSP whenever a case happens, said the local. SSP Budgam, Tahir said, parents play an important role in the drug issue. Fathers should take good care of their children. If parents notice any drug-like symptoms in their child they should as soon as possible contact the nearest police station. Ghulam Mohammad, a local said, because of unemployment a number of youth are into drugs. Parents should keep a strict eye on their children. The Maulvi should explain to everyone about the harmful effects of drugs so that the children stay away from it. In Budgam, the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ is providing door to door awareness to residents. Jan Mohammad, a local says, drug users should think that this is not the good path as it is spoiling their lives. They will not get anything out of it, he said.
