Kashmir Ahead

Ancient India Awakens Again: LG Manoj Sinha Opens Grand Sanskrit Gurukul in Samba This evening marks a moment of profound spiritual and cultural renaissance. Today, in this ancient and lofty temple complex on this sacred site of Ghagwal, Samba, Jammu & Kashmir, we have witnessed the establishment of an institution which is also an attempt at a meaningful return to its roots, said the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. I believe that the formal inauguration of Shri Narsingh Dham Gurukul is not merely the establishment of a sectionalist institution but the rekindling of a light that has been shining in the form of meditation culture and consciousness on this land of Ghagwal for centuries. On May 6, 2026, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Shri Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul at Ghagwal, Samba, aimed at blending Vedic wisdom with modern education. He also dedicated a Nakshatra Park and Yoga Dhyan Kendra, and laid foundation stones for a library and amphitheater to promote cultural, ethical, and holistic education. If we delve into the history of this sacred site, it will become clear that the entire area and temple complex is not just a living energy zone or religious place made of bricks and stones, it is also the most living proof of the continuity of our civilization. Sanskrit books were contemplated upon by the people and sacred dialogue of knowledge also flowed between the Guru and the disciple. Students from far and wide came here with a thirst for knowledge. They not only received basic education in the knowledge system but were also taught the art of living. They were not only taught the ability to think and die, they were also given the courage to ask questions and were also inspired to follow the path of searching for truth. I believe that this Gurukul is a remembrance of that heritage which has remained alive within us despite the passage of time and despite facing all the challenges, LG said. Today, on this occasion, I would like to say to all the enlightened people present here that Sanskrit is not just a language; Sanskrit is the biggest foundation of our thinking, our philosophy and our knowledge. Nowadays, due to the availability of social media and information, people in all the countries of the world are getting more information. It is because of India’s knowledge tradition that the revolution of development has been possible in other countries of the world and other languages also guided the entire knowledge system of the culture. It is believed that as a residential institution, this Gurukul will focus in the future on a coordinated form of education that will have the depth of tradition, the richness of modern knowledge and the breadth of both. In the coming years, this institution will be specialized in both these forms and will not only teach Sanskrit as a language but Sanskrit will give us a deep and balanced approach to thinking. May this Gurukul become a source of inspiration for the society and make this entire region supernatural, the Lieutenant Governor said.
