Amarnath Yatra 2026: Preparations in full swing at Chanderkote Yatri Niwas in Ramban

Ramban, June 18,2026- Preparations for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 are in full swing at Chanderkote Yatri Niwas in Ramban district, with authorities intensifying efforts to ensure a safe, comfortable, and seamless pilgrimage experience for thousands of devotees expected to visit the holy cave shrine this year.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, with extensive arrangements being made across the pilgrimage route to facilitate yatris.

Recently, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti conducted a comprehensive review of preparations and security arrangements at Chanderkote Yatri Niwas, one of the key transit facilities for pilgrims travelling to the Amarnath shrine.

During the inspection, officials assessed accommodation facilities, sanitation measures, drinking water supply, electricity availability, medical infrastructure, and security preparedness. Authorities directed concerned departments to complete all remaining works well before the commencement of the pilgrimage season. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring adequate toilet facilities, effective waste management systems, uninterrupted power supply, and sufficient bedding arrangements for visiting pilgrims.

Security remains a top priority for the administration. Senior officials held detailed discussions with representatives from the Police, Army, CRPF, and other security agencies to strengthen coordination and implement robust security mechanisms along the Yatra route. The review comes amid heightened efforts to establish a multi-layered security grid for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

Chanderkote Yatri Niwas serves as a crucial halt point for pilgrims travelling through the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway corridor. The facility has been upgraded over the years to provide better lodging and essential services to devotees undertaking the sacred journey.

Officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring that all arrangements, including healthcare services, emergency response systems, traffic management, and pilgrim assistance centres, are fully operational before the arrival of the first batch of yatris.

With administrative agencies working round the clock, Ramban district is gearing up to play a vital role in facilitating one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages. The ongoing preparations at Chanderkote Yatri Niwas reflect the government’s focus on providing a secure, efficient, and spiritually enriching experience to devotees participating in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
