Ramban’s Heena Latief has done Post Graduation in English from Jammu University. After her studies she thought of creating employment rather than seeking employment, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha in praise of Heena in the programme ‘Awaam ki Awaaz’. With the help of the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Heena established her area’s first food processing unit. With this new beginning, Heena made another commitment – that is bringing happiness to her half of the population. And with this feeling in her unit, women’s force has been given importance. Seven females are working in Heena’s food processing unit. And Heena is moving forward with the goal of providing employment opportunities to more and more women by separating business from it. Heena said she had researched about it on the Internet, Google and YouTube. The final idea about food manufacturing came out of her research which was unique here. Many are doing garments and boutique work. So this was something unique. It is a PMEGP sponsored scheme on which I have taken some loan and also added our own to finally establish this unit, Heena said. Seven females work here with me plus I have kept boys for marketing. All of them are getting payment from this food manufacturing unit in Ramban. One female worker shared she was feeling proud of being employed in such a unit run by a woman.
