Jammu University marked an important milestone with the inauguration of new facilities worth nearly ₹10 crore by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The newly developed infrastructure includes a sports complex, shooting range, high-mast lighting for the cricket stadium and facilities at the guest house complex. Speaking on the occasion, LG Manoj Sinha highlighted the importance of sports facilities in strengthening the overall development of students. He said the new infrastructure would provide university athletes with better training opportunities and help them prepare for national and international competitions. The newly established shooting range is also expected to open new opportunities for students interested in the sport, particularly as Indian shooters have brought laurels to the country at major international events, including the World Cup and Olympic Games. LG Sinha also spoke about the rapid transformation being brought by Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies. He stressed the need for universities to encourage open discussions on AI, especially on questions related to safety, responsible use and maintaining human control over advanced AI systems. He said technology cannot replace teachers, but it can change and expand their role in education. Calling upon students to actively shape the future, LG Sinha urged them to build a future where technological progress is accompanied by human values, harmony and compassion. The inauguration reflects Jammu University’s efforts to strengthen modern infrastructure while creating greater opportunities for students in sports, education and emerging technologies.
