LG Manoj Sinha hails inclusion of Rajouri’s Bhairav Yatra in national inventory of intangible cultural heritage of India

Kashmir, July 15,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has welcomed the inclusion of Rajouri’s historic Bhairav Yatra in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of India, describing it as a proud moment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and a significant step towards preserving the Union Territory’s rich cultural legacy.

Congratulating the Rajouri District Administration and the Jammu & Kashmir Department of Culture, the Lieutenant Governor lauded their efforts in securing national recognition for the centuries-old spiritual tradition. He said the prestigious inclusion would play a crucial role in documenting, preserving, and celebrating Rajouri’s deep-rooted spiritual and cultural heritage.

LG Manoj Sinha said the national recognition is a tribute to the generations of devotees and local communities who have kept the sacred Bhairav Yatra alive through unwavering faith and commitment. He noted that the recognition validates the enduring significance of the pilgrimage as an integral part of India’s living cultural traditions.

The Lieutenant Governor further stated that the inclusion of Bhairav Yatra in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage will strengthen Rajouri’s unique cultural identity on the national stage. He emphasized that the recognition will create new opportunities for heritage conservation, academic research, cultural exchange, and sustainable heritage tourism, while encouraging greater appreciation of the region’s diverse traditions.

The Bhairav Yatra has long been a symbol of faith, devotion, and community participation in the Pir Panjal region. Its inclusion in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage marks another milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s efforts to preserve and promote its vibrant cultural heritage for future generations.
