Anantnag, July 1, 2026- In a significant step to strengthen security and ensure the comfort of women devotees, an all-women contingent of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been deployed at the Nunwan Base Camp near Pahalgam for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
The women personnel will be responsible for frisking, screening, and assisting female pilgrims arriving at the base camp before they begin their journey to the Holy Cave Shrine. Their deployment is aimed at ensuring a secure, efficient, and women-friendly environment while maintaining strict security protocols throughout the pilgrimage.
The all-women CRPF unit forms an integral part of the multi-layered security arrangements put in place by the Jammu and Kashmir administration in coordination with the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and other security agencies. Authorities have implemented comprehensive security measures across the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to facilitate a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
Officials said the presence of trained women security personnel will help streamline security checks for female devotees while also providing assistance whenever required. Extensive arrangements, including surveillance, medical facilities, disaster response teams, traffic management, and accommodation, have also been made to ensure the successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The Holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 is scheduled to begin on July 3, 2026, and conclude on August 28, 2026, with thousands of devotees from across the country expected to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to seek the blessings of Baba Barfani.
