Srinagar, June 26,2026-As the world observes the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir has completed 90 days of its intensified anti-drug campaign, reinforcing its commitment to building a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir through sustained enforcement, awareness, and community participation.
The administration has been actively conducting anti-drug operations, awareness programmes, counselling sessions, and rehabilitation initiatives over the past three months to curb substance abuse and protect the youth from the growing menace of narcotics. The campaign has brought together law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, health departments, civil society organisations, and local communities in a coordinated effort to tackle drug addiction.
Reaffirming the commitment on the international observance, the administration called upon citizens to join hands in safeguarding the younger generation and creating a drug-free society.
“On International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, let us reaffirm our resolve to protect our youth and realise the vision of a Nasha Mukt J&K. Through collective action, awareness, and social responsibility, we can defeat this menace and build a healthier society for future generations,” the message stated.
During the 90-day campaign, authorities have focused on dismantling drug trafficking networks, strengthening surveillance, conducting awareness drives in schools and colleges, and expanding access to counselling and rehabilitation services. Community engagement has remained a key component, encouraging parents, teachers, religious leaders, and youth organisations to play an active role in preventing drug abuse.
Officials stressed that while enforcement is essential, long-term success depends on prevention, education, and rehabilitation. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant, support individuals seeking recovery, and report illegal drug-related activities to the authorities.
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking serves as a global reminder of the need for united action against substance abuse. Jammu and Kashmir’s ongoing 90-day campaign reflects its determination to combat the drug menace and ensure a healthier, safer, and brighter future for its youth.
