Srinagar, June 13,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon the Kashmiri Pandit community to reclaim its rightful place in the future of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that their participation is vital for the region’s cultural, social and economic progress.
Addressing the Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave 2026, themed “From Exile to Excellence: Kashmiri Pandit Journey of Resilience, Renaissance and Return,” at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor praised the community’s resilience and contributions despite decades of displacement.
LG Sinha said Kashmiri Pandits have played a foundational role in shaping Kashmir’s civilizational, spiritual and intellectual heritage. He emphasized that the community’s return and active involvement in the Union Territory’s development are essential for preserving Kashmir’s rich cultural legacy and strengthening its future.
“The time has come for Kashmiri Pandits to reclaim their place in Jammu and Kashmir’s future,” he said, adding that the community’s achievements in education, science, administration, medicine, entrepreneurship, literature and public service serve as an inspiration for society.
Highlighting the significance of the conclave, the Lieutenant Governor said the event symbolizes a journey of resilience and renewal. He noted that despite being uprooted from their homeland, Kashmiri Pandits preserved their traditions, language, culture and identity while making meaningful contributions across India and the world.
LG Sinha stressed the importance of reconnecting younger generations with their roots and heritage. He said initiatives such as the Global Kashmiri Pandit Heritage Tour and Conclave provide an opportunity for youth to understand their history, visit ancestral places and strengthen their bond with Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor also reiterated the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the cultural and religious heritage of all communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the region is witnessing a new era of peace, development and inclusive growth, creating opportunities for greater participation and engagement by all sections of society.
The conclave brought together scholars, entrepreneurs, artists, community leaders, civil society representatives and members of the global Kashmiri Pandit diaspora. Discussions focused on cultural preservation, heritage conservation, youth engagement, education, entrepreneurship and pathways for strengthening community ties with the Valley.
Participants described the gathering as a significant step towards cultural reconnection and collective renewal. Many attendees expressed hope that such initiatives would help preserve the community’s rich legacy while contributing to the broader development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to heritage preservation, social harmony and constructive engagement aimed at building a stronger and more inclusive future for the region.
