Udhampur, May 14,2026- The Mission YUVA Scheme 2025 is emerging as a major catalyst for youth self-employment in Jammu & Kashmir, with thousands of young entrepreneurs stepping forward to establish their own businesses through government-backed financial assistance and subsidies.
In Udhampur district alone, nearly 4,000 youth have applied under the scheme, while around 1,000 cases have already been approved, reflecting growing interest in self-employment and entrepreneurship among the region’s youth.
One of the success stories from the district is Aarti Abrol from Garhii, who established a modern fitness centre named Muscle Strength Gym with financial support under the Mission YUVA Scheme. She secured a loan of ₹40 lakh along with a 35 percent government subsidy to launch the venture.
Speaking about her journey, beneficiary Aarti Abrol said the response to the gym has been highly encouraging. She added that the business has also generated employment opportunities, as trainers and staff have been hired alongside her own active involvement in running the facility.
Officials said the scheme is focused on promoting sustainable self-employment opportunities by providing financial support, training, and institutional guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs across Jammu & Kashmir.
Assistant Director, Employment Office Udhampur, Priyanka Gupta stated that the Mission YUVA Scheme has been launched under the Directorate of Employment with the primary objective of encouraging youth toward self-employment instead of depending solely on government jobs.
She noted that eligible beneficiaries are being provided access to loans, subsidies, and support systems to help establish businesses across multiple sectors including fitness, retail, services, agriculture, and small enterprises.
The initiative is being viewed as an important step toward strengthening the local economy, reducing unemployment, and creating job opportunities at the grassroots level. Officials believe the scheme will play a key role in empowering young entrepreneurs and promoting economic self-reliance in Jammu & Kashmir.
Mission YUVA has received a positive response from youth across the Union Territory, with many beneficiaries now becoming job creators instead of job seekers.
