J&K: Awareness, Families, Sustainability I Udhampur’s 3-Step Plan to Beat Drugs Minga Sherpa DC Udhampur said, the drug-free campaign that Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha has launched will be a very intensive campaign of three months. In this, our effort will be to take the drug awareness and anti-drug movement to every home. The drug-free campaign was also started in Udhampur district. Pledges were taken in all the district offices and schools. We are also interacting with civil society members, leaders, religious leaders and making them a part of this public participation movement. This is a very important campaign for us, said DC Udhampur. Drug issue poses a big problem for a society. There will be an intensive programme in the coming three months. The first month’s programme is building awareness and the aim is to reach every home. All the Gram Sabhas, a drug awareness programme in every Ward and we are doing padayatra and other activities so that we can reach every ward and every panchayat, DC informed. In the second month’s program, we will try to reach out to the families. This problem will not be solved until we reach out to the families. Our parents, our teachers and our society also have a big role in this. We should reach every household as soon as possible and tell them what the symptoms are. There are issues in many areas, so the police should also become our eyes and ears, DC Udhampur added. In the third month, our focus will be on taking the gains of the first two months towards sustainability and conclusions. Our focus will be to provide self-employment opportunities to our youth. All the youth of the district should be involved in sports activities. We can keep them engaged in any competition be it painting, debate or essay writing. Recently, a painting competition was organised by the district administration in which we had sought ideas. I am happy to tell you that we got 100+ ideas. The district administration will implement the top 5 ideas in these three-month programme. I seek your help, DC Minga Sherpa voiced. Join the District Administration and District Police and become a part of this campaign so that we can achieve our dream of a drug-free J&K.
